ONE year old

October 20th marked my son's first year of life. WOW he's ONE! Unbelievable! When I think back to when I was pregnant, I couldn't wait to meet our new addition. I couldn't wait to hold him, sing to him and just plain stare at him. I loved being pregnant. I loved the idea that to Nicolas, I was his life support. I loved every kick, every ache in my back, every uncomfortable sleeping position, all because I loved my belly and especially what was inside.
Then the day he was due (10.10.10) came and went, with no sign of labor being right around the corner. TEN days later my doctor decided I was just making life way too comfortable for my boy and I was scheduled to be induced on 10.20.10. It was the absolute best day of my life. Labor wasn't like what I had been told by graduate moms. In fact I have nothing to complain about, I mean of course it hurt but DUH! Definitely worth the pain to see this beautiful face.
Nicolas Ryan
Birth Date: October 20, 2010
Born: 4:30pm
Measurements: 9lbs. 8oz. 22in.

Fast forward through the spit ups, the calls to the 24 hour nurses, the teachings of how to change a diaper for my husband, the breastfeeding, the semi-tiny clothes, the hiccups, the rolling over, the bath times, the first smiles, the clapping, the first interests in toys, the crawling, the standing, the wobbling, to the walking. I wouldn't trade it for the world. He is the air I breathe and the reason I get up in the morning. He lights up my world with just his smile. I can truley say that I am definitely a better person now that he has taught me the real reason for living. From the top of his head down to the tip of his every toe, I love him through and through. His birthday has been bittersweet in the idea he's no longer my "baby" that I can just cradle and rock to sleep, he is now my growing boy with a curious mind to match. I'm definitely excited to watch him learn and explore.

Although my son is now a year old, he will always always ALWAYS be my baby.
