20 week ultrasound

Today I went in for my 20 week ultrasound to find out the gender of our new baby to come this June. My nerves were running rapid while my bladder was filled to the max. Naturally our first wish as parents is to have a beautiful, healthy baby but in the back of our minds we had a wish for a specific gender. Having already welcomed a boy to our family we were anxious to find out if Nicolas would have a younger brother or sister. Today was that day to find out. I went by myself because Ryan was unable to get the time off work which was no problem because that just meant that I could surprise him with the news. I decided to take the whole day off from work so I could meet him for lunch and then come home and figure out a creative way we would tell my mom, Ryan's mom and my grandma. When I was pregnant with Nicolas, we decided to spread the news to them by putting baby boy clothes in gift bags for them to open. I contemplated what I should do this time since I was alone in the planning. Immediately after my appointment, I rushed over to Target (where I could have literally spent all my money) to figure out what I was going to do for my husband. Once that was decided, his work was my next stop. By this time he had called and text me to find out but I made him wait until I got there.
side note: when we did this for Nicolas, the boy clothes were in a pink bag to throw them off, but knowing we did that last time, I didn't want Ryan to have ANY inclination as to what the answer was before opening the bag. Which, luckily, he didn't.

Immediately upon removing the tissue, his words (in the happiest voice) were "IT'S PINK!"

After telling my husband, I had to figure out a special way to pass along the news to our moms and my grandma. I went home and baked some cookies and put up balloons in our front yard so the answer was apparent before they came through the door.
And if the balloons weren't a dead giveaway, I confirmed it on the cookies! (which by the way it is so not easy to write with frosting!)

Here are a few other pictures that I took throughout the day just because I was overwhelmed with joy.
We're not yet sure of what her name will be so I left her frame blank probably until it's written on her birth cirtificate.

Like I said we are filled with excitement and cannot wait until we get to meet our daughter. (That will definitely take some getting use to) There are so many things that I am anxious for and they may be super silly or way far off from now seeing as how she's not even born yet but I keep day dreaming about what life will be like.

I have super sweet visions of Ryan holding her for the first time and seeing his face once again fall in love with a being of his own, only this time it'll be a girl other than myself stealing his heart.

I can't wait for the idea of how super sexy it will make my husband look when he goes out to the store, event, park, or whatever, without me and how he will have a son and a daughter tagging along with him.

I can't wait for the best of both worlds of playing with dinosaurs and then easily transitioning into playing barbies.

For the past year my mind had the constant print of sports or trucks or monsters and now I now get to invision leopard print, and ballerinas, and flowers.

I can't wait to instill in her values that every woman should have to be a proper young lady.

I can't wait for her baptism and to have her dress be made from my wedding dress.

But I most of all can't wait for her to be my age. Because if anything new or exciting is happening in her life her mom will be one of the first people she will call. I can't wait for the eternal bond a daughter will have with her mom, that more than a friendship bond that can never be broken.

I can't wait to meet you little angel of ours!

  1. OMG I'm so excited for you!!! So happy you got what you wanted. The great thing about girls is that you are much more likely to be apart of their lives when they are older. When you have a son, your interactions tend to depend upon his wife, who you may or may not find easy to get along with. But, like you said, daughters always call their moms first when something exciting happens :)
